The late Dr. Charles W. Saunders, the fourth superintendent of The Bahamas Baptist Union of Churches (BBU) – a man who has been described as a “pillar of strength” in the religious community – will receive a state-recognized funeral.
The funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 10, at Salem Union Baptist Church, on Taylor Street, at the church Saunders pastored for almost four decades, 1974-2013.
Saunders’ body will lie in repose at the William Thompson Auditorium on Jean Street on Tuesday, February 8, prior to a memorial service at Salem Union Baptist Church at 6:30, later that day, under the auspices of Salem and the BBU.
A public viewing is scheduled for Wednesday, February 9 at Salem Union Baptist Church in the C.W. Saunders Fellowship Hall, prior to the Thursday funeral service.
Saunders passed away on January 28 at age 91.
